We have listed important information about Parking, Electricity, Mail, Garbage and Rent.Parking
At most of the major complexes, parking permits are required. (Please see page 1 of your lease if you are unsure if you need a permit) In order to park in the lot, you must have a valid permit displayed from your rear-view mirror. Parking is restricted at complexes after 6 p.m. daily. Please have all visiting guests park in the designated visitor spaces where available or off street.Tickets will be given to those cars that do not:
- Park in a designated stall
- Park in a designated lot without a valid permit displayed
- Run or have major body damage
- Parked in front of garages
- Parked in a designated Fire Lane
- Blocking another vehicle
- Violating any of the above for mentioned items
Electricity
As you arrive at your new home the electricity will be on as you have already put it in your name and all light fixtures will have working light bulbs. If there is not power to any of your lights or appliances, first check your breaker box and be sure all switches are in the "on" position. We suggest that if you leave for an extended period of time that you turn off your breakers to save money and avoid damages resulting from a power outage.
Electricity must be set up at the Ames Public Utilities. Their homepage is located here
PLEASE NOTE: Your apartment number and mail box number may not match. See your Move-In Inspection report for your specific mail box number.
Renter's Insurance
One of the most important items you will need for your new home is Renter's Insurance.
Since PPM is not responsible for your personal property, this low cost investment will save you time and a lot of money in the long run. We have enclosed some brochures about renter's insurance in your move-in pack. Please take a moment to look them over and then pick up the phone to save your home.
Garbage
At most major complexes, garbage dumpsters are located in enclosed areas at the end of the garages. If you live in a house, duplex or a small complex, you may be required to provide your own garbage containers and service. Please refer to page 1 of your lease to be sure who is responsible for the garbage collection at your home.
